On July 11, two innovation projects of NHU carried off the prizes on the 2021 Science and Technology Award Conference of Zhejiang Province. The project of Technology Development and Industrialization of the Manufacturing of High Performance Polyphenylene Sulfide jointly developed with Zhejiang University won the First Prize of Technological Invention of Zhejiang Province, which has been the fourth time for us to win this award since 2006; and the project of Key Technological Innovation and Industrialization of Starch-based Carrier for Stabilizing Immobilized Fat-soluble Nutrients jointly developed with Ningbo University of Technology and Zhejiang University won the Second Prize of Technological Progress of Zhejiang Province.
These two awarded projects are the fruits of our scientific research under the principle of meeting the needs of the market and technological development with the industry-academia-research synergy. They are also major breakthroughs in the core technologies regarding new material and nutrition with our forward-looking R&D pipeline and great perseverance over the years. The application of the Technology Development and Industrialization of the Manufacturing of High Performance Polyphenylene Sulfide makes NHU an important PPS supplier in China with a world reputation that contributes to the high-quality development of relevant downstream industries such as electronics, automobile, the upgrade and transformation of the domestic manufacturing industry, and the development of Three Technology Hubs in Zhejiang. The project of Key Technological Innovation and Industrialization of Starch-based Carrier for Stabilizing Immobilized Fat-soluble Nutrients enabled the world’s first integrated production line of double modified starch for immobilized nutrients, promoting the healthy growth of the food and feed industry in China.
Over the years, NHU has insisted on independent innovation and technology driven development with the industry-academia-research synergy. Upholding the R&D philosophy of “demand-oriented development with inter-segmental coordination and industrial cooperation”, we have been ramping up investment in R&D, promoting the integration of the innovation chain, industrial chain, and value chain, and blazing a trail of endogenous growth driven by co-innovation and independent innovation. NHU has taken on over 50 national and provincial projects; won 2 Second Prizes of Technological Invention of China, 1 Gold and 1 Silver of National Patent Awards, and 11 Technology Awards at the provincial and ministerial level; been granted 442 patents domestically and 81 patents internationally; led or participated in the development of 39 national/industrial standards.
From July 12 to 19, the 53rd IUPAC General Assembly & the 50th World Chemistry Congress took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under the theme “Chemistry for a Sustainable Future”. Mr. Li Haoran, Honorary Dean of the NHU Research Institute, Ms. Yu Lili, Assistant Dean and Deputy Director of the Product R&D Department, and Mr. He Qiyang, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Cooperation Department, joined over 3,000 chemists from around the world to explore the vital role of chemical science in addressing global sustainability challenges.
